WILSONVILLE – Centennial’s first-round playoff series got off to a nice start, but it didn’t end well in Game One for the Eagles.
After building a brief 2-0 lead early in the game, Centennial’s bats were silenced through five shutout innings in a 7-2 loss at Wilsonville on Friday night in Game One of the best-of-three series.
The Eagles struck first with a series of singles in the second inning, building a 2-0 gap on a sacrifice fly hit by J.D. Nickerson. But Wilsonville answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and took the lead for good on an inside-the-park grand slam in the fourth inning.
The teams meet at Centennial at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 24, and would face a deciding game at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Wilsonville if necessary.
The winner of the series advances to play in the 16-team OIBA championship tournament next week at Barlow High School.
